Cabling at the IP-based port (Voice over IP)

NOTE
For the conversion of an existing standard or universal connection (ISDN) to a
connection with IP-based telephony, please first remove any existing devices such
as splitters, NTBA or PBX connections. Disconnect all cables connected to the
telephone socket. For more information about the type of your broadband con-
nection, please refer to the order confirmation.
Take out the following items from the package:
VMG8825
Power supply
Network cable (yellow)
DSL cable (gray)
Connect the VMG8825 in accordance with the following description. Please also
refer to the overview graphic under DSL connection on page 23.
Connecting DSL
Take the gray DSL cable (RJ45-TAE) and plug the RJ45 jack into the gray
socket marked DSL on your VMG8825. Insert the TAE jack of the cable into
the middle socked labeled with F or
(telephone socket).
When you later switch on the power supply (see the Initial setup section),
the DSL LED starts flashing. After the DSL synchronization has completed
successfully, the DSL LED lights solid green. This process may take several
minutes.
Connecting analog telephones
Take the phone jack (TAE connector) of your DECT base station (or analog
phone) and insert it into the socket labeled TEL1 or TEL2 on the VMG8825.
Alternatively, you can also connect a telephone via the socket labeled TEL.

NOTE
Two analog telephones can be connected to the VMG8825. After the initial
setup, the provided phone numbers will be available at this phone.
You can make changes to the settings via the user interface of the VMG8825
Telephone cables have different codes at the connectors. Use the connection
cable associated with the telephone.
Depending on the device type, an analog telephone can be connected via TAE
/RJ-11 or clamps, while the sockets are parallel connected TAE ist not availab-
le at VMG8825-D20A.
