4.5 Using a Blank Cassette

When you insert a blank DDS cassette into the Python drive for the first time, it is automatically initialized.
The Python drive first detects that the tape is blank (about 10-12 seconds). It then initializes the tape when it
receives a command that causes writing to the tape.
NOTE:
Initializing the tape takes about 30 seconds. Ejecting the cassette before the
initialization is completed causes the procedure to abort. The initialization than
restarts from the beginning the next time a WRITE command
is
received.
