NOTE:
With data compression, tape capacity depends on the characteristics of the data being
compressed. "Typical capacity" reflects a
2:1 compression ration, typical of a mix of
general purpose data files such as spreadsheet and word processing files. ''Maximum
capacity" is not an absolute maximum but rather a nominal maximum, such as with
types of conventional files which can contain more redundant data, such as certain
database files.
