Placing and connecting a soil moisture sensor
(Soil product variants)
The soil moisture sensor should be placed at the roots of the
plants. The soil should be compacted to the same level as
around the roots. There should be no air pockets.
The soil moisture sensor is connected to the temperature and
air humidity sensor A.
Lay the cables so that they are protected against mechanical
damage, such as from tools or agricultural machinery.
 Connect the Superseal connector of the soil moisture
sensor to the cable of the temperature and air humidity
sensor A (see figure 4, page 3).
 Dig a hole to the same depth as the roots.
 Press the contacts of the sensor into the side of the hole.
The contacts must be positioned vertically above one
another.
 Fill in the hole.

Operation

Operation solely requires the preparations specified under
"Commissioning" and "Assembly".
The monitoring station will then work automatically and with-
out requiring maintenance.
The battery charge is monitored by Deepfield Connect via the
radio link. If battery replacement is necessary, you will be no-
tified and a new battery will be sent to you automatically.
Measurement and transmission intervals
The measurement and transmission intervals vary depending
on the temperature or humid temperature measured. The
standard interval is one measurement every 10 minutes and
one data transmission every 60 minutes.
You will receive measured values every 10 minutes if the hu-
mid temperature is below 5 °C or the temperature is above
25 °C.
Replacing the battery
Also see figure 5, page 3.
NOTE
 Risk of damage!
Penetrating water or chemicals may damage or
destroy the monitoring station. Only replace the bat-
tery in a dry environment. Clean the monitoring station
dry before replacing the battery. If dirty, clean the battery
compartment seal and check it for damage.
 Remove the cable tie and turn the transmitter on its side
by the top suspension.
 Open the battery compartment.
 Remove the battery and release the connector. To release
the connector, press down on the back of the hook.
 Insert the connector for the new battery into the socket.

cable should be underneath the battery if possible (see
figure 5, page 3).
 Close the battery compartment cover and lock it carefully
with the two screws.
 Secure the transmitter to the transmitter bracket again.
European Directive 2006/66/EC states that
defective or used rechargeable and disposable
batteries must be collected separately and re-
cycled in an environmentally friendly manner.
Do not throw rechargeable and disposable
batteries away with household waste. Used batteries can be
returned to the place you purchased them free of charge.

tect it against dirt.
Removing the sensors
 Release the sensors from their fixtures.
Retrieving the soil moisture sensor from the soil
 Remove as much soil as necessary to be able to grip the
sensor and pull it out of the soil.
NOTE
 Risk of damage!
Using tools or pulling on the cable can destroy the soil
moisture sensor. Do not use tools and do not pull on the
cable in order to retrieve the sensor from the soil.
Detaching the transmitter from the transmitter
bracket
 Take the safety cap off and open the cable tie.
 Pull the transmitter bracket out of the ground.
