General description
The principle of operation for the KXS-/KXA-Series of sensors is based on the three-electrode-principle.
With this measuring principle a counter-electrode is essential. This is normally provided by the machine
potential or the potential of the plant or by the protective wire BE (function earth). The adjustment can
be made with the EasyTeach by wire function directly from the control panel or with the EasyTeach by
Magnet function on the device itself.
The maximum achievable sensing distances can be more then 100 mm, dependent on the diameter of
the sensor and the dielectric constant ε
The evaluation units KXA-5-... are available in 2 versions
• The „MINI" version for use with with M5, M8 M12 and M16 sensors
• The version with no addition to the part number, which combines with M18, M30, M32 sensors
The recommended evaluation unit should always be used, in order to exploit the optimal adjustment
range, this means from sensing distance zero to maximum. Using the wrong evaluation unit will limit the
adjustable range.
