General safety information

3.
Read these instructions carefully before use and keep them for later reference.
Note
Read the operating instructions carefully. Be familiar with the controls and the proper use of the machine.
Local regulations can restrict the age of the operator.

3.1 Preparations

a) Never allow children or other persons who are not familiar with the operating instructions to use the
equipment. Contact your local governmental agency for information regarding minimum age
requirements for the user.
b) Never use the equipment while other people, particularly children or animals ,are nearby.
c) Always keep in mind that the operator or user of the equipment is responsible for accidents
or risks involving other persons or their property.
d) Wear hearing and eye protection while operating the equipment.
e) Always wear sturdy, non slip footwear and long trousers when using the equipment. Never use
the equipment barefoot or in sandals.
f) Check the ground on which the equipment will be used and remove stones, sticks, wire, bones and
other foreign bodies that could be caught up and violently flung out.
g) Warning
Petrol is highly flammable.
h) Only store petrol in containers designed to hold petroleum‐ based liquids.
i) Only refuel out in the open and do not smoke during the refueling process.
j) Always refuel before starting the engine. Always ensure that the fuel tank cap is closed when the
engine is running and when the equipment is hot, also do not refuel.
k) If petrol has overflowed, do not under any circumstances attempt to start the engine instead,
remove the equipment from the affected area. Avoid starting the engine until the petrol fumes have
completely evaporated.
l) For safety reasons, the petrol tank and other tank cap must be replaced if they are damaged.
m) Damaged silencers must be replaced.
n) Before use. Always visually examine the tools and bolts for signs of wear or damage. To prevent
any imbalance, replace worn out or damaged tools and bolts as a set only.
o) If you operate equipment with an ejector at the rear and exposed rear rollers without a debris
device, you must wear full eye protection at all times.

3.2 Handing

a) Do not let the combustion engine run in enclosed areas, as dangerous carbon monoxide gas can
build up.
b) Only use the equipment in broad daylight or in well‐ lit conditions.
c) If possible, the equipment should not be used on damp grass or take special care to ensure that you do
not slip.
d) always maintain good footing on inclines.
e) Only operate the equipment at a waling pace.
f) Always guide the equipment across slopes, never straight up or down.
g) Be particularly careful when you change direction on a slope.
h) Do not work on overly steep inclines.
