There is first of all of the base station (COMfort DECT Base 128) and the handset (COMfort DECT 800). You can log in up to eight COMfort DECT 800 handsets to one base station. With the COMfort DECT repeaters (XA), (available as an option) you can bridge distances of up to 1000 m e.g.

Commissioning COMMISSIONING Basics about the Installation Before starting the configuration of a DECT system, the circumstances have to be defined for the installation of the individual components. Installation Location of COMfort DECT Base 128 Only a connection to an internal S port of the PBX is necessary for the installation.

The Auerswald PBX must be connected to the 230 V mains for installation of the system telephone. In order to operate the system telephone on the PBX systems COMpact 4410 USB, COMpact 2206 USB, COMpact 4406 DSL, COMmander Basic and COMmander Basic 19", these Auerswald PBX systems must have the Software version 1.6A or newer.
Commissioning Login of the Handset to the Base Station To connect a handset to the base station as described later, the following preconditions have to be fulfilled first: The base station has to be connected to the PBX and the battery pack of the handset has to be connected to the handset and charged (see manual of the handset).

Select the menu „Set up“. Open the menu „Login“. Start the subscription. The handset searches for a base station within reach that is in the subscription mode (chapter Start the Log in at the Base Station on page 13). This may take some seconds. The handset has located a base station.

Commissioning Enter the last 4 digits of the serial number of the base station (in this example „3 3 1 4“) and confirm the entry by pressing OK. The subscription may take some seconds. A positive confirmation tone can be heard and the display changes into the idle menu.
Assign internal Telephone Numbers to the Handsets The internal telephone numbers are assigned to the individual handsets with the configuration pro- gram COMset of the PBX. For this purpose the base station has to be connected to the internal S bus of the PBX.

You can read the serial number on the sticker (pic. under the battery pack in the handset pic. 6 (open the rechargeable battery cover; see user manual of the handset) or in- terrogate it on the handset as described here:...
Commissioning If you have finished entering all settings, you have to transfer the configuration into the PBX (File ... Save ... PBX). The field with the manually entered serial number remains marked in blue until the handset has been correctly subscribed to the base station (see chapter Login of the Handset to the Base Station on page 13) and the configuration is read out again.
Delete Serial Number of the Base Station out of the Handset Open the main menu. Select menu „set up“. Open the menu „Login“. Select the menu „select login“. Open the menu „subscription remove“.

Commissioning Enter the digit sequence 0 0 0 0 and confirm the 0000 entry by pressing OK. Confirm by pressing OK. Delete the displayed serial number from the hand- set. If the handset has been logged-in to several base stations and the serial number of the previous base station has not been deleted before starting a new login, you can select this serial number by scrolling with the arrow keys and delete it also.
If you like to cascade two or three repeaters (a maximum of three is possible), the login has to be done via PC. You will need the „COMfort DECT Repeater Tools“ (special accessory of Auerswald) as well as the corresponding PC program (see chapter Cascade the Repeaters on page 24).

Commissioning Start the subscription mode in the base station. For this purpose press the pushbutton at the base station (pic. 4 on page 12) for some seconds (similar to the login of a handset). The repeater synchronizes with the base station in the subscription mode. This is indicated by a quickly flashing LED.
If you like to cascade two or three repeaters (a maximum of three is possible), the login has to be done via PC. You will need the „COMfort DECT Repeater Tools“ (special accessory of Auerswald). It contains an adapter cable, a PC cable for the V.24 interface and the corresponding PC program ServiceTool.

Commissioning Measure the Field Strength and the Quality of the Radio Signal To measure the field strength and the quality of the radio signal, the handset has a built-in test func- tion. Open this function as described here: 99989 Enter the digit sequence 99989 Confirm by pressing OK.
- Third value (in the example ): In the third place there is the field strength. In the example the radio signal is received with a field strength of 104. (The punctuation mark „:“ stands for a value of 100 plus the following digit. That means „:4“ stands for the value „104“, a semicolon „;“ stands for 110 plus ...) - Fourth value (in the example ): In the fourth place there is the radio channel.

Commissioning Make sure that no supply pipes or cables are underneath of the marks. Drill the mounting holes with a diameter of 6mm and put dowels into the holes. Base station: Screw the screws into the wall until the 5 mm screw heads have a distance of app.
Commissioning Transfer Telephone Numbers from the short-code Memory With the PC program COMtools you can load short-code numbers from the PBX into the handsets. (The number of entries depends on the firmware version of the handset.) For this purpose the base station has to be connected to the PBX.
