• Torx® screwdriver T10
• Cable shoe pliers (for grounding cable)
• 7 mm wrench (for grounding screw)
• Flathead screwdriver 2.5 mm
• Wire stripping tool (for cable connection to AXIS T8607)
How to install AXIS T8606 Media Converter Switch

• The media converter switch shall be installed in an environment protected against dust
and water, for example indoors or in an appropriate cabinet.
• The media converter switch shall be connected using shielded network cables (STP)
intended for their specific use. Make sure that the switch is properly grounded. For
regulatory requirements, see Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) on page 4 .
For an overview of the hardware components, see page 7.
1. Mount the media converter switch on the wall, or attach it to a DIN rail in a cabinet.
2. Connect the network cables to the network connectors (RJ45, SFP) as required.
3. Connect the power cable to the power connector (DC input).
4. Earth the switch by connecting to the grounding screw.
5. Make sure the LED indicators on the media converter switch indicate the correct
conditions, see Media converter switch LED indicators on page 16.
Note
If you wish to configure a system that uses VLAN tags, the product's dip switches must be
set correctly. See Network connector dip switches on page 19.
How to install AXIS T8607 Media Converter Switch

• Make sure the connections to the mains supply and conduits have been installed by a
trained professional, according to the manufacturer's instructions and in compliance
with local regulations.
• The power supply (sold separately) and the media converter switch shall be installed in an
environment protected against dust and water, for example indoors or in an appropriate
cabinet.
