2-1. Daily Maintenance PCM-3348HR

In order to maintain the performance of the PCM-3348HR,
perform cleaning and head erasing every day.

2-1-1. Cleaning

Use a cleaning sheet dipped in a cleaning fluid (alcohol) to
clean the guide rollers and guide pins as well as the heads
and other parts that come in contact with the tape.
1. Head Cleaning
When cleaning the heads, use a cotton swab dipped in
alcohol and wipe in the playing direction of the tape.
Then use a dry cotton swab to lightly wipe dry.
2. Tape-Path system and Tape Guide Cleaning
. To clean away dirt that is difficult to remove on the
guide rollers, timer rollers, tension rollers, shifter rollers
and capstan motor rollers as well as the tape guide within
the head block, first clean with alcohol and then use a
soft dry and clean cloth to wipe dry.
. When cleaning the tape shifter, use a cotton swab dipped
in alcohol.

When cleaning rollers and guides, do not pour cleaning
fluid directly on the rollers or put too much cleaning fluid
on the cloth or cotton swad.
Make sure that there is no residual cleaning fluid on the
parts after cleaning. Daily cleaning will prevent the
buildup of oxidation on the tape.

2-1-2. Magnetic erasing on the heads

Bring the erasing surface of the magnetic eraser and the
head as close as possible to each other and turn the power
on for the magnetic eraser.
Slowly bring the magnetic eraser a sufficient distance from
the head and then turn the power off on magnetic eraser.
Follow the same procedure for all heads.

When carrying out magnetic erasing, always make sure
first that the power is off on the PCM-3348HR.
Also make sure that the magnetic eraser does not come in
direct contact with the heads.

2-1-3. Dust Cover Handling

The dust cover prevents foreign matters entering PCM-
3348HR through the air duct. If the filter (refer to the
following figure) of the dust cover is clogged, the cooling
effect of the unit deterioraters.
Clean the filter periodically.
Remove the filter as follows.
(1) Open the front door.
(2) Pull the four nylon-latches in the direction of the
arrow.
(3) Remove the dust cover in the direction of the arrow.

(4) Remove the filter.

If the filter is washed with water, dry the filter before
installing. If a wet filter is installed, trouble may result.
