HOW TO USE

This appliance is for household use and may be plugged into any AC electrical outlet
(ordinary household current). Do not use any other electrical outlet.
LINE CORD SAFETY TIPS
1. Never pull or yank on cord or the appliance.
2. To insert plug, grasp it firmly and guide it into outlet.
3. To disconnect appliance, grasp plug and remove it from outlet.
4. Before each use, inspect the line cord for cuts and/or abrasion marks. If any are
found, this indicates that the appliance should be serviced and the line cord
replaced. Please return it to our Service Department or to an authorized service
representative.
5. Never wrap the cord tightly around the appliance, as this could place undue
stress on the cord where it enters the appliance and cause it to fray and break.
DO NOT OPERATE APPLIANCE IF THE LINE CORD SHOWS ANY DAMAGE, OR IF
APPLIANCE WORKS INTERMITTENTLY OR STOPS WORKING ENTIRELY.
BEFORE USING GRILL:
• Carefully unpack grill and remove all packaging materials from carton.
• Wipe surface of grill with a clean, damp cloth or sponge, then dry. This will remove
any packaging dust.
• Place grill on a flat, dry surface or sturdy table, away from any hot surfaces or other
heating appliance. Do not use under kitchen cabinets.
• Always leave unit unplugged when not in use. When using, do not plug it into the
same outlet or use it on the same circuit with other appliances. A circuit overload
could occur.
• Keep all combustible material such as paper, cardboard or fabric at least three feet
away from grill. Do not use in wet or moist locations. Do not use near a sink or
laundry area.
• When grill is used for the first time, it is normal for the heating element to give off
a small amount of smoke and odor.
ADDITIONAL SAFETY TIPS
• Never touch the metallic parts of unit (body or grill plates) while the appliance is
operating, as these can become very hot.
• To prevent risk of burns, do not move the appliance while it is in operation.
• Always switch grill off completely and unplug it immediately after using.
• Never place appliance on a delicate surface, such as a tablecloth or a piece
of furniture, etc.
• Keep cord away from all heated surfaces, including the stove.
• Never use or leave the appliance outdoors, and always store it in an indoor location.
• Do not place anything between the grill plate and the food (i.e., a dish, aluminum
foil, etc.).
• Do not leave appliance unattended while in use.
DRIP TRAY
Grill comes equipped with a slide-out drip tray, which fits below the drip opening in the
lower grill plate to collect fats and other cooking residues resulting from the grilling
process. It also makes these residues easier to discard when grilling is complete.

USING THE GRILL
Plug the grill into a 120-volt 60Hz AC outlet only.
Be sure that detachable grill plates are correctly attached to unit. TO ATTACH PLATES:
Lift lid of grill. To attach, slide lip on front of plate into slot on housing and press into
place. To attach upper grill plate, fit horseshoe-shaped slots on lip of plate over screws
on rear housing and snap into place.
Grill is now ready to use.
IMPORTANT: Timer must be set for grill to operate.
Close grill cover and set timer to 8 minutes to preheat. Preheat is complete when light
goes out. Once grill is heated, open lid and place food on lower plate. Close lid and
reset timer according to recipe. Hinge on grill will automatically adjust to accommodate
thickness of food being cooked. Grill only with the lid closed.
Carefully lift the lid when timer rings. If food is not done, close the lid and reset timer.
When finished grilling, remove food and unplug grill. Do not leave empty grill plugged in.
Let grill cool before cleaning and storing.
CAUTIONS:
• Steam may escape from the sides and front of the grill. Use caution when opening
and closing the lid and during grilling.
• The grilling plates get very hot. To prevent burns, do not touch grill plates or outside
surface of the grilling plates during use.
• Do not cut food on the non-stick grill plates.
• Be sure that grilling plates have cooled completely before attempting to remove
them from unit.

HELPFUL HINTS

Use the following easy guidelines for successful grilling:
• Always preheat the grill until light goes off (approximately 6-8 minutes).
• Use boneless fish, meat and poultry for most even browning.
• Marinate meat at least 1 hour in refrigerator before grilling for extra flavor and
tenderness, if desired. Use about 1/4 cup (59ml) liquid marinade per pound of meat.
• When grilling chicken with skin, place chicken skin side down for best browning
on both sides.
• During multiple use, be sure to check level of grease in drip tray. Remember, it only
holds about 1/2 cup.
• Some grease residue may build up under the bottom grill plate around the drip
opening. This is normal. When unit is cool, wipe/scrub with a nylon bristle brush
or sponge after each use.
