4. Initial Operation

The initial operation of the burner may only be carried out by qualified personnel according to DVGW
stipulations or valid national regulations.
Please observe the following:
⇒ Check if the type of gas and the connection pressure of the burner correspond to the gas supply.
⇒ Check the fit of the connection pipe and that it is not damaged.
⇒ Close the gas shut-off valve at the laboratory workbench (gas isolation valve).
⇒ Slide the certified gas hose (in Germany according to DIN 30664 or DVGW G 5501-P) up to the last
groove of the hose spout (5) on the burner. If necessary, secure the hose in position with a clamp or
ring clasp (see DVGW worksheet G 621 or relevant national specifications).
5. Operation
5.1
Igniting the flame
Caution / risk of burning!
When igniting the burner, turn the mixing tube away from the user and other objects.
Keep your distance!
The flame could be big, depending on the position of the gas valve!
⇒ Open the gas shut-off valve at the laboratory workbench (gas isolation valve).
⇒ Open the gas valve (3) to approx. 1 turn.
⇒ Press the actuation knob (6) in, so that you can hear the gas flowing.
⇒ Ignite the flame immediately!
⇒ After igniting the flame, keep the actuation knob pressed for another 10 seconds until the flame is
burning independently. If the flame goes out, repeat the procedure.
The burner is now ready for use.
