1. Introduction
1.1. Introduction
The Lotus is an active standup aid for persons that can still stand upright independently
and have sufficient trunk stability but cannot or find it difficult to walk. The carer can
move the client safely and efficiently after he / she moved onto the Lotus. The Lotus is
meant for short transfers, for instance from the bed to the toilet. Because the client takes
on an active sitting position, less force is needed to return to the standing position.
Comfort is the primary consideration for both the client and the carer. The Lotus is fitted
with rotatable sitting parts, flexible lower-leg supports and base spreader. The base
spreader ensures that the Lotus can be wheeled close to the client, meaning that he / she
can stand up effortlessly. The Lotus stimulates the client to be more active and to assist
during transfers.
