Fibroptic Model FG Thermometer
3.2.1 Installing the Model FG thermometer in a mounting assembly
1)
Bolt the adapter securely to the air purge assembly via the three holes in
the lower flange of the air purge casting.
It is possible that the air purge assembly will be supplied as Part Nº
091.274 (ready fitted with a simple right-angle bracket) or as Part Nº
091.262 (fitted with an adjustable flange)
2)
Disconnect the quick release adapter (028.823) from the bayonet fitting on
the air purge assembly by rotating the adapter anti-clockwise.
3)
Screw the adapter fully on to the M16 threaded optic head until it is trapped
lightly against the optic head lock nuts (Refer to Fig. 3-2).
4)
Fasten the air purge assembly securely to a supporting member.
5)
Connect a supply of clean air and establish a flow rate of approximately
1ltr/s/2.12cu.ft/min.
6)
Connect the optic head to the air purge assembly via the bayonet fitting.

3.3 Positioning the Processor

Warning
Risk of electric shock. Ensure that the processor is disconnected from the
power supply before removing the lid of the processor.
Caution
The Fibroptic Model FG Thermometer processor contains components
which can be damaged by an electrostatic discharge. Always ground fin-
gers or screwdrivers before touching internal components (including con-
nector terminals and the test switch).
The fibre optic light guide linking the optic head with the processor allows the
processor to be positioned in a safe place up to 6.1m/20ft from the measurement
point. The minimum bend radius of the flexible lightguide is 50mm/2in.
1)
To prevent the lightguide fouling machinery or causing a hazard, secure it
along its length to suitable points on the installation.
2)
Do not strain the lightguide along its length when installing the thermometer.
3)
Do not allow the lightguide to be immersed in oil or water etc.
The processor has four corner mounting screw holes through the base of
the box which allows it to be mounted securely on a wall, rack or console.
The holes are on 148mm/5.83in x 45mm/1.77in centres. The mounting
screw holes clearances are shown on the dimensional drawing, Fig. 4-2.
4)
To gain access to the mounting screw holes, unscrew the four screws in the
lid of the processor and remove the lid.
5)
Use 4.5mm/0.18in diameter screws through the mounting holes to secure
the processor in the required location.
6)
Replace the processor lid and tighten the screws.
