3.4 Guide to Epic Pro V Specific Features

The Epic Pro V has added video functionality; including time-lapse, motion time-lapse,
and video panning. Some models of the base Epic Pro may be capable of an upgrade
to the Epic Pro V version, please contact customerservice@omegabrandess.com for
more information.
To access these unique features from the main menu, select "New Video Pan" to do
a motion time-lapse or sweeping video pan, or select "New 360 Panorama" for a
complete 360 ° rotation.
Motion Time-lapse Settings
To get started, you will need to select "New Video Pan" from the main menu
Set Start Position– After selecting "New Video Pan" you will see a prompt to "Set Start
Position", move the Gigapan to the start position of the time-lapse using the movements
arrows. Keep in mind that the unit can move both horizontally and vertically, which allows
for diagonal movements as well. Once you have your position adjusted, press the "OK"
button to set it.
Set End Position– Next you will see a prompt to "Set End Position", move the Gigapan once
again until it is in your desired end position and press "OK" to set it.
Set Duration– Next you will be prompted to set your duration. You can set the duration
time of the time lapse in days, hours, minutes, and seconds. Once you have you desired
duration, press "OK" to set it.
Time-lapse/Video Pan– A new menu will pop up asking if you are doing a time-lapse or a
video pan. Since you are creating a time-lapse, you will need to highlight that selection and
then press the "OK" button to proceed to the next step.
Set Number of Pics – The last step is setting the number of images that your camera will
take during the time-lapse. Keep in mind the number of pictures your camera is capable
of taking and storage per charge. It is possible to pause the time lapse to change your
camera's battery or memory card and then continue. You can do so by pressing the "OK"
button during the time-lapse to pause, and then pressing the "OK" button again when
you are ready to resume. There is, however, no automated way to do this, so you will need
to monitor your camera's battery and memory manually. Once you have decided on the
number of pictures, press the "OK" button to set it.
Preview/Start Pan– At this point the Gigapan will ask if you would like to see the
panorama. Selecting "Yes" will cause the unit to go to the start position, then move through
to the end position to show a preview of the motion. If you select "No", it will ask if you have
turned on your camera, locked he focus, set white balance, set exposure, and turned off
your flash. After pressing "OK" for each of these prompts, it will then ask if you would like to
start the pan. Pressing "OK" will start the sequence.
