Removal

Turn off the IPO switch.
Remove the diskette drive cover assembly (112).
Remove the wiper assembly

Disconnect the head cable from the diskette drive
control card (172).
Remove the card retainers and the diskette drive
control card

(172).
Loosen the two idler mounting screws
II.
Push
the idler assembly uP' against the spring tension;
then tighten the screws.
CAUTION
While performing the following steps, be careful
not to damage the drive band.
Remove the clamp screw
II
and the band clamp
from the pulley.
Carefully remove the drive band ends from the
pulley pin.
Measure and record the gap . . between the
stepper motor pulley and the casting. This
measurement will be used in the replacement
procedure.
Loosen the clamp screw
II;
then remove the
pulley and the clamp.
Replacement
1.
Reinstall the pulley, the clamp, and the clamp
screw
II.
(Keep the screw loose so that the
motor shaft can turn inside the pulley.) Be sure
the pulley does not touch the side frame.
2.
Carefully reinstall the drive band ends on the
pulley pin. Then reinstall the band clamp ,with the
notch facing away from the stepper motor) and
the screw
II.
(Do not tighten the screw.).
3.
Loosen the two idler mounting screws
II
and let
the spring tension put the idler in position. Hold
the idler mounting bracket and tighten the
mounting screws
II.
Ensure that the bracket is
parallel to the frame.
4.
Turn the stepper motor pulley by hand a few times
to center the drive band on the idler pulley
II.
5.
Reinstall the diskette drive control card and the
card retainers
II
(172).
6.
Reinstall the head cable on the diskette drive
control card (172).
7.
Turn the stepper motor pulley by hand until the
timing slot in the casting and the timing hole in
the stepper motor pulley are aligned. Insert a
timing pin
II.
8.
Disconnect the drive motor power cable.
DANGER
Voltage is present at the socket when the
power cable is disconnected and the I PO switch
is on.
9.
Remove diskette adapter card A 1 C1.
10.
Turn on the IPO switch.
CAUTION
The PTX, LED, or drive card can be damaged if
the incorrect test pins are jumpered.
