Removal
1.
Turn off the IPO switch.
2.
Remove the
5114
covers
(110).
3.
Remove the diskette drive from the
5114 (111).
4.
Remove diskette adapter card A

Remove the solenoid leads

from the taper pin
terminal block
II.
(Remember the cable path for
the replacement procedure.) If there is no terminal
block, remove the leads from the A2 connector.
6.
Remove the bail return spring
II.
7.
Remove the mounting screw
B
and the bail
IJ.
(This pulls the solenoid plunger out of the
solenoid. Be careful not to damage the plated
surface of the plunger.)
8.
9.
Remove the plunger from the bail.
Loosen the solenoid locking screw
II
and remove
the head load solenoid by turning it
counterclockwise.

terminal block or associated components.
Replacement
1.

Install the solenoid, turning it about four turns
clockwise into the casting.
Install the plunger to the bail.
While inserting the plunger into the solenoid,
reinstall the bail

and the
mountin~
screw
II.
(Be careful not to damage the plated surface on
the plunger.) Ensure that the bail is under the tab
. . of the carriage arm.
Reinstall the bail return spring
II.
Carefully place and connect the solenoid
III
leads
to the taper pin terminal block
II
or the A2
connector (see logic
440).
Perform the service check.
