1 ABOUT YOUR PROBE The Elcometer 456 Blanket Probe is a separate style F1 2 scale probe which plugs in to an Elcometer separate gauge type F or FNF. The probe features a large diameter base which is designed to prevent the probe tip from sinking into the surface it is measuring.
1.1 What the box contains • Elcometer 456 Blanket Probe • 3 x Foils : 500µm, 1000µm and 2mm • Operating instructions 2 FITTING THE PROBE To ensure correct transfer of data from the probe and detection of the new probe, the gauge must be switched off when the Blanket Probe is fitted.
Grasp knurled section and pull gently away from the gauge. The connection will unlock and the probe will release. Note: A probe must be calibrated once it has been fitted - refer to your Elcometer 456 Operating Instructions. 2.1 Set the Probe Scale Range Use the probe set-up function to set scale 2 measuring range on the probe.

5.2 SAVING READINGS IN BATCHES Users of the Elcometer 456 Top gauge can set up multiple batches to allow easy monitoring of the thickness of individual blankets on multiple presses. Each of these batches will have its own calibration data.

Note: The probe also has a measuring range of 0 to 1500µm, but this cannot be used to measure the thickness of a blanket. Packaging The Elcometer Blanket Probe is packed in a cardboard and foam package. Please ensure that this packaging is disposed of in an environmentally sensitive manner. Consult your local Environmental Authority for further guidance.
