For unmatched flexibility, the BasX A-400Z also features a built-in 80 Hz high-pass filter for use with systems that include one or more subwoofers, and a rear-panel Master Volume control for matching the gain of the A-400Z to your other gear.

    About This Manual This manual will provide you with the information you need to get started enjoying your BasX A-400Z Zone Distribution Amplifier. We suggest that you read through the entire manual; we kept things as short and direct as possible.

    A-400Z offer both strength and rugged good looks. • Universal AC line voltage operation - The BasX A-400Z will operate on either 115 VAC or 230 VAC, at 50 Hz or 60 Hz, and automatically detects and switches to the correct line voltage.

    BasX A-400Z Unpacking Your BasX A-400Z Zone Distribution Amplifier was carefully packed and should reach you in perfect condition. If you notice any shipping damage or other issues when you unpack it, please contact Emotiva immediately. Gently remove your A-400Z from the packing carton and remove all wrappings and shipping material.

    5. Line Voltage Indicators The BasX A-400Z automatically detects the correct line voltage for your area; the Line Voltage Indicators show which line voltage has been detected. The A-400Z will operate from either 115 VAC or 230 VAC at 50 Hz or 60 Hz.

High Pass Filter Switch The BasX A-400Z has a built-in high-pass (crossover) which can be enabled for use with a subwoofer. When this switch is set to Full Range, the A-400Z operates normally. When this switch is set to High Pass, the signal at the input of the A-400Z is passed through an 80 Hz 12 dB/octave high-pass filter.

    BasX A-400Z Connections Connecting speakers to your A-400Z Your A-400Z has no special connection requirements; audiophile grade five-way binding posts are provided for speaker connections. • Always turn off the amplifier before connecting or disconnecting speaker cables or signal source interconnects.

    BasX A-400Z Care and Maintenance Periodic Maintenance Your BasX A-400Z requires no periodic maintenance or calibration. Cleaning your A-400Z • If necessary, the A-400Z should be cleaned gently with a soft rag. • If something sticky gets on the front panel or case of the A-400Z, it should be cleaned with a mild cleaning solution applied to a soft rag, followed by wiping with a clean rag dampened with plain water and drying with a soft dry rag or cloth.

    BasX A-400Z Specifications Circuit Topology The BasX A-400Z is an audiophile-quality Class A/B stereo amplifier with high current output capabilities. The A-400Z has four separate stereo speaker outputs, each controlled by a separate relay, operated by front panel push-button switches.
  • Page 18 BasX A-400Z Minimum Recommended Load Impedance 2 Ohms continuous; ( 1 x 2 Ohm load; 2 x 4 Ohm loads; 4 x 8 Ohm loads); per channel. The A-400Z is fully stable into reactive loads whose impedance reaches as low as 1 Ohm.
