5. Changing the Name of a Recorded Program - RW - RW Video Video You can label a DVD, title, or program by entering characters. You can enter up to 64 characters for a title or disc name, but the actual number of characters displayed in the menus such as the Title List will vary.
To use the number buttons You can also use the number buttons to enter characters. Refer to the number next to each row of letters on your TV screen. In step 5 above, press a number button repeatedly to select a character. Example: Press the number 3 button once to enter “D.”...

Timer Recording Before Recording Before you start recording… • Check that the disc has enough available space for the recording (page 32). For DVD+RWs and DVD-RWs, you can free up disc space by erasing titles (page 59). • Adjust the recording picture quality and picture size if necessary (page 42).
Recording a stereo/SAP program The recorder can receive and record stereo/ SAP programs. Recording stereo programs If there is noise in the stereo program, set “Auto Stereo” in the “Audio” setup to “Off” (page 76). The sound will be recorded in monaural but with less noise.

Notes • If a message indicating that the disc is full appears on the screen, change the disc, or make available space for the recording (DVD+RW/DVD-RW only) (page 60). • Check that the clock is correctly set before setting the timer recording. If not, the timer recording cannot be made.
“DVD Rec. Picture Size”: Sets the picture size of the program to be recorded. • 4:3 (default): Sets the picture size to 4:3. • 16:9: Sets the picture size to 16:9 (wide mode). “DVD Rec. Picture Size” works with DVD-RWs/DVD-Rs (Video mode) when the recording mode is set to HQ, HSP, SP, LSP, or ESP.
Checking/Changing/ Canceling Timer Settings (Timer List) - RW - RW Video Video You can check, change, or cancel timer settings using the Timer List. O RETURN Press TIMER LIST. The Timer List appears. Timer information displays the recording date, time, recording mode, etc. Indicates that the setting is overlapped by another setting.

Recording From Connected Equipment - RW - RW Video Video z REC x REC STOP Recording from connected equipment with a timer (Synchro Rec) You can set the recorder to automatically record programs from connected equipment that has a timer function (such as a satellite tuner).
If the timer settings of a Synchro- Recording and another timer recording overlap Regardless of whether or not the program is a Synchro Rec program, the program that starts first has priority and the second program starts recording only after the first program has finished.

Playing a previous recording while making another (Simultaneous Rec and Play) - RW You can play a previously recorded program while recording another on the same disc. Playback continues even if the recording is a timer recording. While recording, press TITLE LIST. The Title List appears.

Erasing and Editing Before Editing This recorder offers various edit options for various disc types. Notes • You may lose the edited contents if you remove the disc or a timer recording starts while editing. • DVD discs created by DVD video cameras cannot be edited on this recorder.
Erasing and Editing a Title - RW - RW Video Video This section explains the basic edit functions. Note that editing is irreversible. To edit DVD-RWs/DVD-Rs (VR mode) without changing the original recordings, create a Playlist title (page 62). CHAPTER MARK O RETURN .

Creating chapters manually - RW You can manually insert a chapter mark at any point you like during playback or recording. Each time you press the button, “Marking ...” appears on the screen and the scenes to the left and right of the mark become separate chapters.
