Place the trimmer on the ground, remove the bat-
tery.

Note. Periodically clean out the grass between the
spool and the rim of the guard to prevent the tool
from vibrating.
TIPS FOR TRIMMING
Avoid hot surfaces by always keeping the tool
away from your body.
WARNING. Before inspecting, cleaning,
or servicing the machine, shut off motor,
wait for all moving parts to stop, and
disconnect extension cord. Failure to
follow these instructions can result in
serious personal injury or property
damage.

GENERAL MAINTENANCE

Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts.
Most plastics are susceptible to damage from
various types of commercial solvents and may be
damaged by their use. Use clean cloths to remove
dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc.
WARNING. Do not at any time let brake
fluids, gasoline, petroleum based
products, penetrating oils, etc., come in
contact with plastic parts. Chemicals can
damage, weaken or destroy plastic
which may result in serious personal
injury.
Periodically, clean all foreign material from the
trimmer head air vents.
You can often make repairs described here. For
other repairs, have the trimmer serviced by an
authorized service center.

SPOOL REPLACEMENT

Use only 1.4mm. diameter filament line. Use
original manufacturer's replacement line for best
performance.
OPERATION
Cut all grass from top to down. This will prevent
grass from wrapping around the shaft housing and
string head which could cause damage from
overheating. If grass becomes wrapped around the
string head, STOP THE ENGINE, disconnect the
spark plug wire, and remove the grass.
Use the tip of line to trim grass; do not force string
head into uncut grass.
Avoid trees, flowers, stones, walls and other
objects which can cause the line breakage.
Check and feed the line regularly to maintain full
cutting width and performance.
MAINTENANCE
Unplug the string trimmer.
Push in tabs on side of spool retainer.
Pull spool retainer up to remove. Fig.15.
Remove spool.
To install the new spool, make sure the two lines
are captured in the slots opposite each other on the
new spool. Make sure the end of each line is
extended approximately 15cm beyond each slot.
Install the new spool so that the lines and slots
align with the eyelets in the line head. Thread the
lines into the eyelets.
Pull the lines extending from the line head so the
line releases from the slots in the spool.
Reinstall the spool retainer by depressing tabs into
slots and pushing down until spool retainer clicks
into place.
