ASSENGER LOCATIONS AND EMBARKING
DISEMBARKING
Ask passengers to be seated while the boat is moving, and to hold on to handrails both
when seated and when embarking/disembarking. See the figure given below.
Do not use the bow area (area in front of cabin) when operating the boat at higher
speeds than 10 knots, or in high wave conditions. Sudden and heavy boat movements can
cause injuries to the passengers. Always adopt the speed to the conditions and ask
passengers if they are comfortable.
The safest and recommended point of embarking/disembarking is the bow. Anti-slip
patterns cover the elevated bow deck and there are handrails to hold on.
When moored steadily alongside jetty, passengers may also use the SB and PS step areas
located just behind the cabin.
Be very careful as boat surfaces are narrow and may be slippery when surfaces, shoes or
feet are wet or dirty. Be aware of that the boat may move due to shift of weight and
waves. Make sure the distance to the jetty is short enough and the boat cannot move
away from the jetty. Hold on tight to boat handrails and firm objects on the jetty and/or
ask for support from fellow passengers.
NOTE: The surface between the cabin and the freeboard (outer edge of boat hull) is not
a walk surface/ gunwale intended for standing or walking. See also warning signs in
chapter 3.7.
