Symptom:
P0443-EVAP PURGE SOLENOID CIRCUIT
When Monitored and Set Condition:
P0443-EVAP PURGE SOLENOID CIRCUIT
When Monitored: At ignition key on and the engine running.
Set Condition: Not powering down, not in limp-in and time since last solenoid activation
is greater than 72 micro seconds. The PCM will set a trouble code if the actual state of the
solenoid does not match the intended state.
FUSED IGNITION SWITCH OUTPUT CIRCUIT OPEN
WIRING HARNESS INTERMITTENT
EVAP PURGE SOLENOID CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN
EVAP PURGE SOLENOID CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
EVAP PURGE SOLENOID
POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE
TEST
1
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII , read DTC's.
Is the DTC Specific Good Trip Counter displayed and equal to zero for P0443?
Yes → Go To 2
→ Go To 7
No
2
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Evap Purge Solenoid connector.
Measure the resistance between the terminals of the Evap Purge Solenoid.
Is the resistance between 10.0 and 15.0 ohms?
Yes → Go To 3
→ Replace the Evap Purge Solenoid.
No

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Evap Purge Solenoid Connector.
Note: Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the Fused Ignition Switch Output Circuit at the Evap Purge Solenoid
Connector.
Is the voltage above 10.0 volts?
Yes → Go To 4
→ Repair the open Fused Ignition Switch Output Circuit.
No
POSSIBLE CAUSES
ACTION
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 5.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 6.
