Eggtimer Proton Airstart Quick Reference
General Rules for Successful Airstarts
 SIMULATE EVERYTHING FIRST!!!
 Your booster motor's thrust:weight ratio should ideally be 10:1 or above.
 Your separation time should be at least 120% of the motor's burn time.
 You should fire the sustainer's igniter at least ½ second after separation, longer is OK.
 Don't use high-thrust motors like VMax's in the booster.
 If you expect your booster to get you near mach, increase the sample rate and reduce the
LDA altitude to ensure that the timer is triggered.
 Use an altitude or velocity qualification if your booster motor's thrust:weight is < 10:1 or
your stability is < 2C, or if you're waiting an extended amount of time before firing the
sustainer motor.
