Emergency Starting

If the starter rope should break or the rewind starter fails, use the
spare starter rope (provided) and follow this procedure.
1. Shift outboard to neutral position.
The neutral‑speed‑protection device is inoperative when
starting the engine with the emergency starter rope. Set the
engine speed at idle and the gear shift in neutral to prevent
the outboard from starting in gear.
