Introduction
Dear customer, congratulations on acquiring your new Philips sandwich maker.
With your new compact sandwich maker you can make all kinds of toasted sandwiches very easily.
General description (fig. 1)
A Cooking plates
B Automatic locking system
C Cool-touch handgrips
D 'Power on' pilot light: this red light is on as long as the sandwich maker is connected to the
mains.
E 'Ready to cook' pilot light: this green light is on when the cooking plates are being heated up.
When the green light goes out, the appliance is ready for use.
F Cord storage facility
Important
Read these directions for use carefully before using the appliance and save them for future
reference.
This appliance is intended for household use only.
Check if the voltage indicated on the bottom of the appliance corresponds to the mains
voltage in your home before you connect the appliance.
Plug the appliance into an earthed wall socket.
Position the appliance in such a way that:
-
the mains cord does not hang over the edge of the table or worktop;
-
it is out of the reach of children.
Make sure that the mains cord does not come into contact with or too close to the hot
surfaces of the appliance.
Put the appliance on a stable and flat surface, away from curtains and other combustible
materials.
Always preheat the cooking plates before putting slices of bread between them.
Unplug the appliance immediately after use.
Never let the appliance operate unattended.
Avoid touching the metal parts as they become very hot.
Let the appliance cool down completely before cleaning or storing it.
Never touch the cooking plates with sharp or abrasive items, as this will cause damage to the
non-stick coating.
This appliance is not a grill and is not intended for preparing other foods than sandwiches.
Always clean the appliance after use. Never immerse the appliance in water. Prevent water
from entering the appliance.
If the mains cord is damaged, it must be replaced by Philips, a service centre authorised by
Philips or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
Before first use

Remove any stickers and wipe the body of the sandwich maker with a damp cloth.

Open the sandwich maker (fig. 2).

Clean the cooking plates with a damp cloth or sponge (fig. 3).
The appliance may give off some smoke when you use it for the first time.This is normal.
