    Key Features The 32/16 channel 8000 NVR comes in two distinct types: the R Series (8732 R, 8532 R, 8516 R models) and the S Series (8532 S, 8516 S models). The R Series comes with a docking station and can be mounted in a rack, the S Series has a backplane and is intended to be placed on a flat surface such as a desktop.

    Feature Overview Hard Drives You can install up to four hard drives inside the unit. Hard Drive installed in position 1 at the bottom of the bracket. Position 2 at the top of the bracket is empty. One installed hard drive. Position 3 at the bottom of the bracket is empty.

    Unit Setup Wall-Mounting with a Docking Station If your NVR unit includes a docking station (R Series only), you attach the brackets and drip trays to the docking station, which holds the NVR unit on the wall. To attach the docking station mounting brackets Use the large countersunk screws provided in the wall-mounting kit to attach the brackets to the docking station.

    Unit Setup Attaching the Drip Trays to the Docking Station Because the cooling fans are at the bottom of the recorder when wall-mounted, two drip trays are required. The drip trays and four small countersunk screws required to attach the trays to the docking station are included in the wall-mounting kit.

    Unit Setup Installing Hard Drives This section describes how to install a hard drive, or install additional drives (up to four). Note: You can transfer a SATA hard drive from a 4000 C series NVR into a 32/16 channel 8000 series NVR, if you require.
  • Page 35 Unit Setup Remove the cover of the recorder. There are four hard drive positions in two hard drive trays. Position 1 is at the bottom of the right-hand tray, position 2 is at the top of the right-hand tray, position 3 is at the bottom of the left-hand tray, and position 4 is at the top of the left-hand tray.
  • Page 36 Unit Setup Loosen the four screws at the bottom of the hard drive bracket (two each side) and remove it from the recorder. Note: Set the screws aside - you will use them to re-attach the bracket. Screws at bottom of bracket If you are only installing one or two hard drives, you will only need the right bracket, if you are installing three or four hard drives, you can start with the right bracket (for positions 1 and 2), then the left bracket (for positions 3 and 4).
  • Page 37 Unit Setup Install and tighten the two screws on one side of a hard drive before installing and tightening the two screws on the other side. Note: When tightening the screws, use 5.3 in-lbs (inch pounds) of torque.
