Your ROG GR8 II comes with two SO-DIMM memory slots that allows
up to two DDR4 SO-DIMMs for a maximum of 32 GB memory.
IMPORTANT!
Y ou can only install DDR4 SO-DIMM to the ROG GR8 II's DIMM
slots.
O nly ASUS-authorized technicians should remove and install
motherboard and mechanical parts inside your ROG GR8 II.
Please refer to the terms and conditions in the warranty card.

  • Page 2 Installing or upgrading the top memory module: 1. Turn off your ROG GR8 II. 2. Disconnect all cables and peripherals. 3. Place the ROG GR8 II on its side on a stable and flat surface. 4. Remove the screws from the top and bottom sides, then remove the top cover. 5. Slide the side cover towards the rear to detach it from the chassis then gently lift to remove it from the chassis.
  • Page 3 6. Remove the memory module. To remove a memory module: A. Press the retaining clips on each side to release the memory module. B. Carefully remove the memory module. NOTE: Use the same model and speed when replacing the memory module with a new memory module.
  • Page 4 7. Get the replacement memory module. 8. Install the new memory module into the top slot. To install a new memory module: A. Align and insert the memory module into the slot. B. Press the memory module down until it is securely seated in place.
  • Page 5 9. Replace the side cover then slide it towards the front of ROG GR8 II to re-attach. 10. Replace the top cover and secure it with the screws removed earlier, then secure the bottom screw.
  • Page 6 Installing or upgrading the bottom memory module: 1. Follow steps 1 to 5 from the Installing or upgrading the top memory module section to remove the side cover. 2. Remove the screws on the HDD/SSD and bracket assembly then put them aside:...
  • Page 7 3. Carefully lift the HDD/SSD and bracket assembly upwards. 4. Lift the flap on the SATA connector (A), then remove the SATA cable from the SATA connector (B). 5. Place the HDD/SSD and bracket assembly aside. 6. Push the bottom cover latches down and remove the bottom cover.
  • Page 8 7. Lift the rear panel cover latches and carefully remove the rear panel cover. WARNING! DO NOT remove the rear panel cover while tilting it at different angles, doing so may damage the rear panel cover. 8. Remove the screws marked M2.5 on the brackets (A-C), then remove the brackets (A-C).
  • Page 9 9. Disconnect the power cables connected to the motherboard in the sequence shown in the illustration below: 10. Disconnect the PCIE cables connected to the motherboard as shown in the illustration below: NOTE: Ensure to lift the flap on the FFC_PCIE8_1-2 connectors before removing the cables.
  • Page 10 11. Disconnect the WiFi antennas from the wireless card, then remove the cables from the AAFP_F and FIO_USB3_34 connectors. NOTE: Ensure to lift the flap on the FIO_USB3_34 connector before removing the cable. 12. Remove the nine (9) screws securing the motherboard in the sequence shown in the illustration below:...
  • Page 11 13. Lift the motherboard from the side closest to the front panel, then remove the motherboard by pulling it towards the direction of the front panel. NOTE: Ensure all the cables mentioned in the above steps are disconnected from the motherboard before removing the motherboard.
  • Page 12 14. Flip the motherboard over and install the new memory module. To install a new memory module: A. Align and insert the memory module into the slot. B. Press the memory module down until it is securely seated in place. 15. Tilt the motherboard (A), then insert and adjust the motherboard's rear I/O so that it fits within the chassis (B). NOTE: Ensure there are no cables underneath the motherboard when replacing the motherboard.
  • Page 13 16. Slightly push the motherboard in the direction of the rear panel to insert the motherboard into the chassis. NOTE: Ensure there are no cables underneath the motherboard when replacing the motherboard. 17. Secure the motherboard with the nine (9) screws removed earlier in the sequence shown in the illustration below:...
  • Page 14 18. Connect the power cables connected to the motherboard in the sequence shown in the illustration below: 19. Connect the PCIE cables connected to the motherboard as shown in the illustration below: NOTE: Ensure to push the flaps down on the FFC_PCIE8_1-2 connectors after connecting the cables to secure them.
  • Page 15 20. Connect the WiFi antennas to the wireless card, then connect the cables to the AAFP_F and FIO_USB3_34 connectors. NOTE: • E nsure to push the flap down on the FIO_USB3_34 connector after connecting the cable to secure it. • C onnect the black antenna to connector 1 and the white antenna to connector 2 on the wireless card.
  • Page 16 21. Replace the brackets (A-C) and secure them with the screws removed earlier. To replace the brackets: A. Insert the bracket in the direction towards the front panel, then push the end towards the rear panel down. NOTE: Ensure the cables are collected and seated into the space and the gap at the bottom of the bracket. B. Tilt the bracket so that the top of the bracket is inserted first into the chassis, then push the bottom of the bracket so that the bracket is seated firmly within the chassis. C. Align the bracket's screw holes with the screw holes on the chassis and replace the bracket.
  • Page 17 22. Connect the SATA cable to the SATA connector (A), then push the flap down to secure the cable (B). 23. Align the HDD/SDD and bracket assembly to the drive bay, then secure the HDD/SSD and bracket assembly to the drive bay using the four screws removed earlier.
  • Page 18 24. Replace the rear panel and ensure that all the rear panel latches are seated firmly. WARNING! DO NOT replace the rear panel cover while tilting it at different angles, doing so may damage the rear panel cover. 25. Insert the bottom cover latches into the chassis first (A), then push the bottom of the bottom cover down (B) to replace the bottom cover. 26. Follow steps 9 to 10 from the Installing or upgrading the top memory module section to replace the top cover.
