TANGY BBQ SAUCE

Ingredients
2 tbsp vegetable oil
½ medium brown onion, diced
1 garlic clove, crushed
1 jalapeno, cored, seeded and diced
1 cup tomato sauce
3 tbsp apple cider vinegar
3 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
½ tsp Tabasco sauce
3 tbsp brown sugar
2 tbsp treacle
2 tbsp American style mustard
1 tsp dry mustard powder
½ tsp freshly ground black pepper
Salt
1 cup water
Method
Heat the oil in a small saucepan over low heat.
Add the onion, garlic, jalapeno and cook until
softened, about ive minutes. Stir in the rest of
the ingredients and bring to the boil over high
heat.
Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce
simmer uncovered, for about 10 minutes,
or until thickened. Stir often to prevent the
bottom from sticking or burning.
Remove the barbecue sauce from the heat
and set aside to cool for 10 minutes.
Once the sauce has cooled, process the sauce
in a blender until smooth.
