Frame design
To build an LED display using this unit, design of a
suitable support frame is required.
In the case of a structural support frame designed for LPU,
the following aspects should be considered:
• All structural steel frame design must be fabricated by a
qualified structural engineer, complying with local
regulations prevailing in the country of installation, or
corresponding local authorities.
Consult with qualified Sony personnel regarding
installation.
• Ensure the steel frame design used to fix the LPUs in
place does not obstruct the maintenance door at the back
of LPU-1601 and LPU-2001 panels, in the case of rear
access maintenance arrangement being selected for
LPU-2001.
• A suitable maintenance platform providing space to
safely and effectively carry out maintenance work
should be included in the design of the steel frame.
– A minimum clearance of 600 mm (23
suggested between the rear panel and wall of the
screen enclosure. However, a smaller clearance may be
considered in special cases, provided sufficient
clearance is still available to open the maintenance
door.
– The headroom between each maintenance platform on
each level should be a sufficient degree higher than
panel height, in order to avoid obstructing the LPU
maintenance door.
– Catwalks between all maintenance platforms should
be considered in the design.
• All steel frame materials should preferably be
galvanized and/or painted as deemed necessary.
• The complete steel frame should be heat insulation
cladded, using materials to be determined and agreed
with by the end user of the LED Display.
• Cladding material and finish should be considered in a
place subject to salt damage, etc.
• Water sealing must be implemented to prevent rain water
entering the unit and/or contacting the panel.
• Identify the locations for installation and inspection of
fan systems, air conditioning, distribution panels,
equipment panels, internal lighting systems, etc.

Power supply design
Selection of a suitable power cable must be based on the
actual distribution system designed for the entire LED
display configuration, and must comply with all local laws,
codes, ordinances, and restrictions.
This includes the following:
• The number of LPUs connected to each power feed.
• The cable diameter must be sufficient to carry the
maximum current capacity, with consideration given to
potential voltage drops along the cable path.
• Appropriate cable containments/trunking should also be
a consideration.
Consult your local electrical contractor for the power
cable used in the system.
