    1.2 How to use Page Scope Web Connection?  NOTE:  ‐ Page Scope Web Connection does only work if the printer is connected to the  network and an IP address has been defined.    With Page Scope Web Connection it is possible to remotely configure the printer instead of  using the menu options via the printer display.    To access Page Scope Web Connection you can either enter the printer IP Address in your  Internet Explorer or open Page Scope Web Connection through your printer driver.    Opening Page Scope Web Connection through the printer driver:    1. Select the Start Button,     2. Select Control Panel,     3. Select Printers and Faxes,     4. Right click on the magicolor 4650/bizhub C20P printer driver and select Properties.    5. Access Levels:  ‐ Public User: For viewing printer information it is sufficient to login as public  user. For this connection is no password required and printer settings and  consumable status can be viewed.  ‐ Administrator: For changing printer default settings, this access level has to  be used. The default password is ‘administrator’ (without the quotes).    2.     2 Printing from PC: 2.1 How to configure installed printer options in the driver?  If there are additional options installed on your printer such as a duplex unit, optional paper  tray, hard disk, etc you might have to “tell” the printer driver that these options are installed.  This has also to be done once.    1. Select the Start Button,     2. Select Control Panel,     3. Select Printers and Faxes,     4. Right click on the magicolor 4650/bizhub C20P printer driver and select Properties.    5.     2.2 How to print on special media such as glossy or thick stock?    You can print on special media such as transparencies, labels, heavy paper, glossy paper and  card stock, by using the optimizing feature in the printer driver.  For printing on special media both the printer and the printer driver have to be setup.   In case multiple input trays are installed, the different input trays can be set to different  types of media. The printer will, depending on the driver settings, automatically select the  corresponding paper tray.  2.2.1 Setup the printer.  NOTE: You can also use Page Scope Web Connection for changing the media type for a  certain input tray.  1.     2.2.2 Setup the printer driver.    1. Load the media input tray. Make sure that the top of the media is forward and the  side to be printed on (the rough side of transparencies) is facing up.     2. Adjust the media guides to fit the width of the media.    3. Open a document in a program, such as Microsoft Word.    4. Select the print command. For most programs, click the File menu, and then click  Print. The Print dialog box appears.    5. On the Print dialog box, click Properties.        6.     2.3 How to print collated copies?    NOTE:  ‐ Some applications have the possibility to collate your output.   ‐ If the application does not support collation, the printer can do the collation but this  feature requires a printer hard disk or Flash Card.    Normally when you print, say 5 copies of  a 5 page document, the printer will print 5 copies  of page 1 followed by 5 copies of page 2, etc.  With collation turned on, the copies are being sorted automatically.  When you print, say 5 copies of a 5 page document, the printer will now print page 1  followed by page 2, page 3, page 4 and page 5 and then again page 1, 2, 3, etc.    1. Open a document in a program, such as Microsoft Word.    2. Select the print command. For most programs, click the File menu, and then click  Print. The Print dialog box appears.    3.     2.4 How to print automatically on both sides of the paper  (duplex)?    NOTE:  ‐ Automatic printing on both sides of the paper is ONLY supported for the magicolor  4650DN and bizhub C20P. The magicolor 4650EN supports manual duplexing.  ‐ It is NOT possible to duplex special media such as thick stock, post cards, envelopes  or transparencies.    1. Open a document in a program, such as Microsoft Word.    2. Select the print command. For most programs, click the File menu, and then click  Print. The Print dialog box appears.    3.     2.6 Print on custom media sizes.  There are 2 different custom media sizes that can be defined and used:  From tray 1: The minimum size is 92mm x 216mm and the maximum size is 148 x 356mm.  From tray 2: The minimum size is 92mm x 216mm and the maximum size is 148 x 297mm.    To be able to print on custom defined media sizes, the sizes have to be defined both in the  printer and in the printer driver.  2.6.1 Setup the printer.  NOTE:  ‐ You can also use Page Scope Web Connection for changing the media type for a  certain input tray.  1.     2.7 Print Color documents in black and white only.  It is very important to understand that even though a document might use only black text,  the printer will still interpret the document as a color document and color might be used to  print the document. To make sure that only black toner is being used for printing, the driver  has to be changed to black toner only (pure black/white printing).  This setting can be  selected in the driver. If black is created with mixed colors (CMYK) then you have to take the  color toner usage into account.       1. Load the media input tray. Make sure that the top of the media is forward and the  side to be printed on (the rough side of transparencies) is facing up.     2. Adjust the media guides to fit the width of the media.    3. Open a document in a program, such as Microsoft Word.    4. Select the print command. For most programs, click the File menu, and then click  Print. The Print dialog box appears.    5. On the Print dialog box, click Properties.          6.     2.8 Some Special Printer Features.  2.8.1 Thumbnail Printing – Number Up printing.    Number Up printing (N‐Up) printing means that the printer will scale down the pages and fit  them on onto an A3 or A4 sheet.  The various page order possibilities when Number Up printing is shown below.         Horizontal from Upper‐Left              Vertical from Upper‐Left               Horizontal from Upper‐Right         Vertical from Upper‐Right    From the printer driver you can select to print up to 16 pages on one single sheet of paper.    From the printer driver you also have the possibility to define if there should be a border  around the pages or not.    2.8.2 Watermarks.    A watermark is a text line for special purposes, such as “Confidential” or “Draft”.   A watermark is generated by the printer driver.  The watermarks can be edited or changed within the printer driver.  A watermark will always be on top of the text (by default).   The text under the watermark is not readable anymore.  Current products have the option to put the watermark transparent, this will  overcome the issue that the text under the watermark is not readable.      Page 21 of 46 ...

    1.1 Some notes about Usage of Consumables.    All consumables have specifications in with the maximum life times of all consumables are  defined. The specifications are always based on A4/letter sized paper and 5% coverage.    Coverage.   Coverage means the % of toner being used on one page. A page with 5% coverage is filled  for 5% with toner and 95% of the page is empty (no toner).          5% coverage sample / 95% of the page is empty.                 Coverage versus Consumable Life Time.   Konica Minolta defines that a given cartridge will print "X" pages at "Y" percent coverage;  the average page of text has 5% of the paper covered with toner.   This means that if each page that is being printed contains 5% black toner, 5% yellow toner,  5% magenta toner and 5% cyan toner, the toner cartridges will reach the life time defined.                                          5% coverage page.                     Approximately 80% coverage for Cyan.        If the amount of toner on a page gets higher, the life time of a toner cartridge will decrease  accordingly.  Page 42 of 46 ...
