Adding Additional LANSocket 1500's to a Powerline Network
Extollo's LANSocket 1500 Powerline adapters come 2 to a kit or as a single unit with the default
(HomePlugAV) Network Membership Key (NMK). They are considered as "members of the same
network". No user interactions are required when adding additional LANSocket 1500 adapters to
the Powerline network. Simply plug in additional adapter(s) and they will join the Powerline
network and start communicating with the existing LANSocket 1500 adapters on the Powerline
network.
Adding Additional LANSocket 1500's to a Private Powerline
Network
If a user creates a "Private" Powerline network, only adapters possessing the same NMK can
join the network. Since private Powerline networks generate random NMK's, the only method for
a new LANSocket 1500 adapter to join the private Powerline network is to obtain the NMK from
a LANSocket 1500 that is in the private Powerline network. This is referred to as the "Pairing"
process.
It is important to have at least 2 Extollo LANSocket 1500 adapters with the same NMK that are
already networked together on the private Powerline network. They are considered as the
"reference" network to join when adding additional adapters.
The pairing procedure will work if no Ethernet cable is connected to the LANSocket 1500 adapter
and the device (PC, gaming console, STB etc.) that you're networking. However, it is
recommended that you connect the Ethernet cable to the devices that you are trying to network.
Please note that you can only add one LANSocket 1500 adapter to a private Powerline network
at a time. To add multiple adapters, please repeat the pairing process for each additional adapter.
The following procedure outlines the pairing process for adding additional LANSocket 1500
adapters to an existing private Powerline network
Pairing Configuration for a Private Powerline Network
To add one or more LANSocket 1500 adapters to an existing private Powerline network, please
perform the following.
Step 1:
1. Plug the new LANSocket 1500 adapter into an electrical socket on the existing private
Powerline network.
