Installing and Creating a Powerline Network
A standard HomePlug Powerline network setup consists of a set of two or more Powerline
adapters. Typically, Powerline adapters come in starter kits that contain two adapters and
Ethernet cables.
Extollo's LANSocket 1500 adapters do not require software setup. The LANSocket 1500
Powerline adapters are preconfigured with a default Network Membership Key which is used as
the seed for the encryption key. Therefore, there is no need to use the "Sync" button during the
installation as the LANSocket 1500's are already synchronized.
One of the LANSocket 1500 adapter connects to the Internet router via the Ethernet cable. When
plugged into an electrical outlet, the Internet is extended the across the electrical power lines
within the consumer's residence. Now every power outlet in the home becomes an Internet
access point.
Take the second LANSocket 1500 adapter and plug it into a power outlet that is close to the
device (PC, game console, Smart TV etc.) that requires Internet access. Connect the device to
the LANSocket 1500 adapter via the Ethernet cable.
When working as designed, Powerline connections support lower and more consistent network
latency than Wi-Fi, a significant benefit for streaming video, online gaming and other real-time
applications.
