TROUBLESHOOTING

The Water in my Aquarium is Dirty
Causes:
The beneficial bacteria have not yet established in your new filter.
Ÿ
Your filter is not the correct size for your aquarium set up.
Ÿ
You have too many fish for your size filter.
Ÿ
Your filter media may be dirty.
Ÿ
Solutions:
Your fish tank can take up to 3 weeks to successfully cycle. You may also
Ÿ
want to add a bacteria start treatment to your tank to speed up this process.
You may need to upgrade to a larger filter.
Ÿ
For reference, you should allow 1 gallon of water per 1 inch of fish in your
Ÿ
aquarium.
Follow the instructions in the Filter Media Maintenance section above.
Ÿ
If you have not yet done so, you may also need to carry out more regular
Ÿ
water changes in your tank.
My UV Light is not on
Causes:
Your filter UV has not been switched on.
Ÿ
The UV bulb may be burnt out.
Ÿ
Your UV steriliser switch may be set to the off position.
Ÿ
Solutions:
Check your filter is plugged into the mains and is switched on.
Ÿ
Replace your 5w UB bulb (see maintenance section above).
Ÿ
Check that the UV steriliser switch at the back of the filter is set to ON.
Ÿ
No Water is Coming Out of my Filter
Causes:
The impeller is blocked - please refer to the impeller maintenance section
Ÿ
above.
There is no water in the filter body.
Ÿ
The filter is not switched on.
Ÿ
The inlet pipe is clogged.
Ÿ
