Refrigerator does not operate
o May be in defrost cycle when motor does not operate for
about 30 minutes,
o Temperature control in OFFposition.
o If interiorlight is noton, refrigerator may not be pluggedin at
wall outlet_
• If plugis secure and refrigerator fails to operate, plug lamp
intosame outlet to determine if there is trippedcircuit breaker
or burned out fuse_
Motor operates for tong periods
o Modernrefrigerators with more storage space and a larger
freezer requiremore operatingtime_
• Normal whenrefrigerator isfirst deliveredto your home--
usuallyrequires24 hours to completely coo! down,
• Largeamounts of foodplacedin refrigerator tobe cooled or
frozen.
e Hot weather--frequent dooropenings.
• Door left open.

Operating sounds
QThe high speedcompressor motor required tomaintain near
zero temperatures in the large freezercompartment may
produce higher sound levelsthan your old refrigerator,
o Normalfan air flow--one fan blows cold air throughthe
refrigerator and freezer compartments--another fancools the
compressor motor_
oThese NORMALsounds will also be heard from time to time:
o Defrost timer switch clicks at defrost_
• Defrost water dripping.
• Temperature control clicks ON or OFE
o Refrigerant boiling or gurgling_
o Crackingor pppoing of cooling coils caused by expansion and
contraction during defrost and refrigeration to|lowingdefrosL
oIcecubes dropping intothe bin and water running in pipesas
icemakerrefills.
Motor starts & stopsfrequently
oTemperature control startsand stops motor to maintain even
temperatures_Thisisnormal,
Door not closing properly
o Door gasket on hinge
side
sticking or foldingoven Tocorrect,
put a small amount of petroleum jelly on face of gasket_
Vibration or rattling
• If refrigerator vibrates,more than likely it isnot resting
solidly on the floor_ The front roller screws need adjusting, or
floor is weak or uneven_Referto page 3,
• If dishes vibrate on shelves, try moving them_Slight vibration
isnormal.
Foodsdry out
• Foods not covered,wrapped or sealed properly_
Freshfood or freezer compartment temperature too
warm
• Temperature control not set cold enough°Refer to page 4,.
• Warm weather--frequent door openings.
• Door left open for long time,
• Packagemay be holding door open_
Frostor ice crystals on frozen food
• Door may have been left ajar or packageholding door open.
• Toofrequentor too long door openings.
• Frostwithin packageis normal.
Slow ice cube freezing
• Door may have been left ajar.
o Turntemperature of freezercompartment colder,
Ice cubeshave odorltaste
o Old cubes need to be discarded Emptyicebin every 30 days,
• Ice storage bin needs to be washed,
• Unsealed packages in refrigerator and/or freezer
compartments may be transmitting odor/taste to ice cubes°
• Interiorof refrigerator needscleaning, Refer to page 12.
Automatic icemaker does not work
* lcemakerfeeler arm in OFF(up) position,
o Water supply turned off or notconnected
e Freezercompartment too warm_
o Cubestoosmall--water shutoffvalveconnecting refrigerator
to homewater line may be clogged.
o Sometimes cubes fuseto thesideof the ice mold and hold the
feeler arm in the OFF(up) position_Remove this iceto restart
the icemaker.
* Piledupcubes in storagebinmay cause icemakerto shutoff
prematurely.Withicemakerfeeler arm in OFF(up) position,
level cubes in bin byhand_
* When levelingcubesby hand, you may have pushedthe feeler
arm intothe OFF(up) positionbymistake.
