Clearing CMOS settings

CAUTION:
Clearing CMOS settings will reset the BIOS settings on your computer.

Remove the
base
cover.

Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.

Remove the
coin-cell
battery.
4
Wait for one minute.
5
Replace the
coin-cell
battery.
6
Connect the battery cable to the system board.

Replace the
base
cover.

Clearing BIOS (System Setup) and System passwords

To clear the system or BIOS passwords, contact Dell technical support as described at www.dell.com/contactdell.
Display the system's Service Tag.
Create a system Asset Tag.
Control flashing of the system firmware to previous revisions.
Enable to securely erase data from all internal storage devices.
Enable the user to recover from certain corrupted BIOS conditions from a recovery
file on the user primary hard drive or an external USB key.
Sets ownership date.
Display BIOS events.
Display the Thermal events.
Display the Power events.
Control the automatic boot flow for SupportAssist System Resolution Console and for
the Dell OS Recovery tool.
Enable or disable the boot flow for the SupportAssist OS Recovery tool when certain
system errors.
