about your electricity.
At the top of your Smart Energy Monitor display you will sometimes see one or
more symbols. These are EnergyTools
important you need to know about your electricity.
After their full first week (Monday to Sunday), the EnergyTools
about your electricity usage. After about seven weeks they'll be able to give you
useful information about your energy use throughout the day – that's when they
can really start helping you save energy.
Here's what they mean:
MaxAlert
alerts you when you're
TM
using more electricity than normal.
This might happen if you're using a
lot of appliances at the same time.
This is useful to know as you can
decide whether you really need to
have them all on.
TargetTrack
tells you if you're no
TM
longer on track to meet your electricity
usage or spend targets. Your monitor
is pre-set with a target to cut down
consumption by 5% a year, but you
can set your own if you wish
(see page 8). There's also plenty of
ideas for saving energy on page 19.

and they come on when there's something

GridWatch
electricity demand is high. If you avoid
using electricity during these times,
you'll help reduce the impact on the
environment and bring down your
carbon footprint.
BaseCheck
electricity use is at its lowest normal
level. It's handy to check it when
you go out or go to bed as it can
show if you've left appliances on
unnecessarily.
