Level of protection is good when the sensor is attached to the holder with a properly
routed cable, and the entire sensor assembly is in this way sleeved.
If it is necessary to sleeve the sensor before placing it in the holder, the cable may not
stay in the groove due to its increased thickness. In this case, do as instructed below:
• Check that the cable is adjacent to the holder, either to the anterior or posterior side
of the holder. The holder will not allow full closure and the cable is protected.
• Check that the cable is not between the sensor holder and the teeth because it may
become crimped when the patient closes their mouth.
Use the FS Ergo sensor holders because they are designed to protect the sensor and
cable. If you choose not to use these holders, use an alternative way to protect the
sensor and the cable.
The use of a bitewing tabs can offer additional protection but you still need to protect the
cable.
• Ask the patient to close their mouth lightly so that there is only a slight contact.
• Do not allow the patient to bite down onto the cable.
• Place a folded gauze or cotton roll between the teeth to hold the teeth separated, if
required.
• Place the cable in an area where there are missing teeth, an open space, or lack of full
occlusion.
Cable clip
Use the cable clip to attach the sensor to the patient's clothing. If the sensor falls from
the patient´s mouth, it will not land on the floor.
You may also clip the cable to your own clothing when you move the sensor.
