General description • Mounting • Adjustment • SW-600-...-S
The flow sensor SW-600-...-S monitors liquid media. The compact design includes the sensing element that
should be installed into the flow, an easy limit value adjustment by means of a potentiometer, a two-coloured
LED-display (for decreasing or exceeding of the limit) with a galvanic separated switching output (NO).
Installation
Before mounting
Make sure that the actual flow rate agrees with the measuring range of the flow sensor (see technical data
page 11).
Make sure that the maximum allowed operating pressure and operating temperature of the flow sensor is
not exceeded (see technical data page 11).
Mounting position
The function of the sensors is not dependent on the mounting position. The sensor should be placed 3 pipe
diameters away from bends, valves, or other obstructions in order to avoid incorrect measurements (see fig.
1). If the detected liquid is containing air inclusions exact measurement cannot be achieved whilst air bub-
bles surround the sensor tip. Therefore in the case of horizontal pipes the sensor should be mounted from
below. In the event of a strong deposit on the sensor tip, the installation should be at the side (see fig. 2).
For vertical pipes the sensor should be mounted in the feed pipe.

Mounting
When mounting the sensor in the corresponding pipeline one has to make sure that the complete sensor tip
is surrounded by the detected medium. The Sensor tip should be completely in the pipe up to the beginning
of the thread as minimum (see fig. 2).
Information:
If you wish for the utmost sensitivity of the sensor (especially for small flow rates), the cross marked on the
mounting nut should point to the direction of the flow. The whole sensor can be rotated to any position from
the front part of the cable exit after mounting and sealing. This allows an optimal alignment of the cable as
well as the display head.
