DRILL OPERATION - FIG. 3
1. Observe all safety precautions.
2. Install the appropriate drill bit for the job.
NOTE: Drill bit rotation is reversible. Drill bit speed
can be adjusted by rotating the lever on the lower
section of the tool. The tool is in neutral when the
lever is in the "up" position. The lever can be rotated
90° to the "horizontal" position in each direction.
The rotation distance determines the speed of the
bit. The horizontal position is the maximum speed.
3. Select the speed of the bit best suited for the material
being drilled. Most drilling is best accomplished with
the lever halfway between fully "On" and the "Up"
position. Do not drill steel or wood.
4. Hold the bit firmly against the work surface.
Beware of being drawn into or trapped by the rotating
tool bit. Keep away from rotating parts.
5. Push the trigger lock (CE models).
6. Squeeze the trigger to start the drill. Adequate down
pressure is very important. High reaction torque can
develop if tool stalls. Hold the tool correctly and be
ready to counteract sudden movements. Hold the
tool with both hands.
NOTE: If the trigger is partially depressed, the piston
will cycle at a low rate and permit easier starting of
the drill bit into the work surface.
7. Periodically pull the drill out of the hole while the
bit is still rotating. This will clear the hole and allow
more efficient penetration.
Note: Collaring should be avoided where possible.
However, if necessary, exposure should be kept to
a minimum.
8. If the bit binds in the hole, reverse direction of the bit
to assist in "backing out" the drill.
9. Keep the drill bit centered in the hole.
10. Release the trigger to immediately stop the tool.
Note: If you encounter a breakdown or the tool stops
for any reason, release the trigger and power down
the hydraulic power source.
