  • Page 2 The starter cartridge does not come with any reset gears. There are two different toner cartridges available for these machines: the TN630 is rated for 1,200 pages, and the TN660 is rated for 2,600 pages. The drum unit, which will be covered in separate instructions, is rated for 12,000 pages. There are different part numbers for these cartridges depending on your region.
  • Page 3 New high yield and super high yield reset gears are available so that starter cartridges can be made into high yield or a super high yield cartridge. Both the TN630 and TN660 cores are the same, so the low yield can be converted to a high yield if the proper toner fill and reset gear is used.

  • Page 6 BROTHER HL-L2300 SERIES TN630/660 TONER CARTRIDGE REMANUFACTURING INSTRUCTIONS 6. Remove the fill plug from the toner cartridge. Carefully pry it up from all sides. The fill plug is very fragile and easily damaged! Dump the remaining toner and vacuum/blow out the cartridge.

Pay special attention to the feed roller to make sure it is clean. 10. Vacuum the doctor blade clean. Until new blades are available, we do not recommend that the doctor blade be removed or the developer roller felt seals disturbed.
  • Page 8 14. Install the non-gear side developer roller bushing and screw. 15. Fill the cartridge with new toner for use in the Brother HL-L2300 series of toner cartridges. Replace the fill plug. 16. Clean the gears, making sure that they have no toner on them. This is a good time to also check the gear shafts to make sure there is enough grease.

The cartridge we are remanufacturing is a starter cartridge and did not come with a retaining plate, reset gear, or spring. These items need to be installed for the printer to accept a starter cartridge as new.

Wipe the cartridge down to remove any remaining toner dust. Be careful not to touch the developer roller! 24. Install the developer roller cover.
