About encryption keys
If your phone is integrated with an email account
using the BlackBerry Enterprise Server or
BlackBerry Desktop Redirector, encryption keys
protect data as it travels between your BlackBerry
Enterprise Server or BlackBerry Desktop Redirector
and the phone. Encryption keys are generated
automatically, but you can manually regenerate
keys at any time.
Regenerate encryption keys
If your phone is integrated with an email account
using the BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 3.6
or earlier for Microsoft® Exchange, the BlackBerry
Enterprise Server version 2.2 or earlier for IBM®
Lotus® Domino®, or if you use the BlackBerry
Desktop Redirector to forward email to your
phone, update the encryption keys using the
BlackBerry Desktop Software. For more

About security self tests
The security self tests program verifies that
security software is implemented properly on your
phone. The tests run automatically when your
phone restarts.

In the BlackBerry Setup, click Security. Press
Options. Click Verify Security Software.

About firewall settings
If you have third-party applications on your
phone, the firewall option prevents these
applications from transmitting data without your
knowledge.

When a third-party application on your phone
attempts to transmit data, a dialog box appears
on your screen. Accept or deny the connection
request.
To reset the firewall settings at any time, in the
BlackBerry Setup, click Firewall. Press Options.
Click Reset Settings.

Clear the phone
Warning:
Performing this procedure disables all services and
removes all data, including passwords and
encryption keys, from the phone. Before clearing
your phone, verify that a backup copy of your data
is available.
1.
In the BlackBerry Setup, click Security.
2.
Press Options.
3.
Click Wipe phone.
4.
Click Continue.
5.
Type blackberry.
