    Use a power strip whose manufacturer offers a damage replacement policy so you can replace the equipment if surge protection fails. Use the appropriate and correctly sized furniture designed to properly support your HP LCD monitor. WARNING! LCD monitors that are inappropriately situated on dressers, bookcases, shelves, desks, speakers, chests, or carts may fall over and cause personal injury.

    Rear components Component Function Power button Turns the monitor on or off. Function buttons Navigate through the OSD menu based on the indicators above the buttons that are activated while the OSD menu is open. NOTE: You can assign the function buttons in the OSD menu to quickly select the most commonly used operations.

    Component Function USB Type-C port Connects a USB Type-C cable to a source device. (upstream)* *The USB Type-C port (upstream) can function as a DisplayPort audio/video input, as a USB 3.0 upstream connection, or it can be used to deliver up to 65 watts of power to a device. Power outputs are 5 V/9 V/10 V/12 V/15 V/20 V to achieve 65 W output.

    Connecting the cables NOTE: The monitor ships with select cables. Not all cables shown in this section are included with the monitor. Place the monitor in a convenient, well-ventilated location near the computer. Connect a video cable. NOTE: The monitor will automatically determine which inputs have valid video signals. The inputs can be selected through the OSD by pressing the Menu button and selecting Input Control.
  • Page 12 Connect one end of an HDMI cable to the HDMI port on the back of the monitor and the other end to ● the source device. You must connect the USB upstream cable from the source computer to the monitor to enable the USB ports on the monitor.
  • Page 13 For Alt-mode: ● Connect the Type-C end of a USB cable to a USB Type-C port on the monitor and the other end to a USB Type-C port on the source device. NOTE: To set the video input source to USB-C, press the Menu button under the right side of the bezel, select Input Control, and then select USB-C Configuration.
  • Page 14 Connect one end of the power cord to a grounded AC outlet, and then connect the other end to the monitor. WARNING! To reduce the risk of electric shock or damage to the equipment: Do not disable the power cord grounding plug. The grounding plug is an important safety feature. Plug the power cord into a grounded (earthed) AC outlet that is easily accessible at all times.

    Connecting USB devices USB ports are used to connect devices such as a digital camera, USB keyboard, or USB mouse. There are four downstream USB ports on the monitor: two USB Type-A ports on the rear; and on the side, one USB Type-C port and one USB Type-A port.

    Installing a security cable A security cable is a key lock device that has a wire cable attached. You attach one end of the cable to your desk (or other stationary object) and the other end of the cable to the security cable slot on the monitor. Secure the security cable lock with the key.

    Image retention is a condition that may occur on all LCD screens. A burned-in image on the monitor is not covered under the HP warranty.

    Mounting the monitor The monitor panel can be attached to a wall, swing arm, or other mounting fixture. NOTE: This apparatus is intended to be supported by a UL– or CSA–Listed wall-mount bracket. CAUTION: This monitor supports the VESA industry-standard 100 mm mounting holes. To attach a third- party mounting solution to the monitor, four 4 mm, 0.7 pitch, 10 mm–long screws are required.

    Attaching the monitor to a mounting device Remove the monitor stand. Refer to Removing the monitor stand on page Slide the hinge cover adapter plate onto the hinge on the back of the monitor and press until it clicks into place. To attach the monitor to a swing arm (sold separately), insert four screws through the holes on the swing arm plate and into the mounting holes on the monitor.

    Main Menu Description Input Control Selects the video input signal. Image Control Adjusts the screen image. PIP Control Selects and adjusts the PIP image. Power Control Adjusts the power settings. Menu Control Adjusts the OSD controls. Management Adjusts the DDC/CI settings and returns all OSD menu settings to the factory default settings. Language Selects the language in which the OSD menu is displayed.

    Using Auto-Sleep Mode The monitor supports an OSD option called Auto-Sleep Mode that allows you to enable or disable a reduced power state for the display. When Auto-Sleep Mode is enabled (enabled by default), the monitor will enter a reduced power state when the computer signals low power mode (absence of either horizontal or vertical sync signal).
