Shutter
The HD camcorder automatically sets the shutter speed depending on the subject brightness. You can also manually
adjust the shutter speed according to the scene conditions.
Settings
Auto The HD camcorder automatically sets the appropriate aperture value.
- In movie record mode, shutter speed can be set to 1/30, 1/60, 1/100, 1/250,
1/500, 1/1000, 1/2000, 1/4000, or 1/10000.
Manual
- In photo record mode, shutter speed can be set to 4, 2, 1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/15,
1/30, 1/60, 1/125, 1/250, 1/500, or 1/1000.
Setting the shutter speed manually
You can set the shutter speed manually. A fast shutter speed can freeze the motion of a
fast moving subject and a slow shutter speed can blur the subject to give the impression of
motion.
• Fast shutter speed allows a fast-moving subject to be captured one frame at a time vividly.
Use these settings when an automatic adjustment does not work well with "Sports"
mode in "Scene Mode (AE)." page 55

Slow shutter speed allows the user to record dark subjects or in darker
areas, making them even brighter than they would be under good natural

A subject is outdoors at sunset or sunrise.
The shutter speed is fixed at 1/60 second. Color bands that appear when

The shutter speed is fixed at 1/100 second. Indoor sports such as
basketball. The flickering that occurs when shooting under a florescent light

or mercury-vapor lamp is reduced.
Moving cars, trains or other rapidly moving vehicles such as roller coasters.
