14. PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION

PROBLEM
1. When the key is turned 
to the «ON» position, 
the dashboard fails to
switch on and there 
is no acoustic signal
2. When the key is 
turned to the «ON» 
position, the dashboard
fails to switch on 
but the acoustic
signal is activated
3. With the key on 
«START» the 
dashboard is
illuminated, but 
the starter motor 
does not run
4. With the key on 
«START» the starter 
motor runs but the 
engine does not start
5. Starting is difficult or the 
engine runs erratically
6. Weak engine 
performance 
during cutting
7. The engine stops
when the cutting 
device are engaged
8. The battery indicator 
light remains on even 
after the machine 
has been running
for a few minutes
9. The oil indicator light
switches on during 
operation (if fitted)
If problems persist after having performed the above operations, contact your Dealer.
PROBABLE CAUSE
The safety device of the electronic 
circuit board has cut in due to:
badly connected battery
battery terminals inverted
flat battery
fuse blown
wet circuit board

wet circuit board
insufficiently charged battery
battery charger fuse blown
insufficiently charged battery
faulty fuel supply
faulty ignition
carburation problems
forward speed too high in 
relation to cutting height
engage not enabled
insufficient battery charge
engine lubrication problems
Turn the ignition key to «STOP» position 
and look for the cause of the problem:
check the connections (par. 4.4)
check the connections (par. 4.4).
recharge the battery (par. 7.5)
replace fuse (10 A) (par. 8.5).
dry using lukewarm air
Turn the ignition key to «STOP» position
and identify the cause of the problem:
dry using lukewarm air
recharge the battery (par. 7.5)
replace fuse (25 A) (par. 8.5)
recharge the battery (par. 7.5)
check the level in the tank (par. 7.2.1)
open the fuel stopcock (if foreseen) (par. 6.4)
check the fuel filter
check that the spark plug 
cap is securely fitted
check that the electrodes are clean 
and have the correct gap
clean or replace the air filter
empty the fuel tank and refill with fresh fuel
check and replace the fuel filter if necessary
reduce the forward speed and/or 
raise the cutting height (par. 6.5.4)
check that all starting conditions 
are met (par. 6.2.2)
contact your Dealer
Turn the key to the «STOP» 
position immediately:
top-up the oil level (see 7.3.1)
replace the filter (if the problem 
persists, contact your Dealer)
