6.3.2. Building a pad chord

The following procedures work the same way in all of the main modes (User, Analog Lab,
DAW) whether you are in Chord Memory mode or Chord Transpose mode:
1. Enter the mode (the pads flash differently for each mode)
2. Press and hold the Chord button (next to the Trans button)
3. Select a pad:
• in Chord Memory mode the selected pad turns green; the others flash
• in Chord Transpose mode the selected pad turns lavender; the others are dark
Once the chord has been recorded, each mode offers a different way to play the chord
back.
In Chord Memory mode the pad will play the chord recorded in step 3. It does

not matter if the Chord button is on or off.
In Chord Transpose mode the pad used in step 3 will select a chord for the

keyboard to play. The Chord button must be enabled (lit) to activate Chord
Transpose mode.

♪: In either mode, when a chord is triggered using a different key than the lowest one used to build
the chord, the display will show the transposed note names, not the original note names.

6.3.3. More about Chord Transpose mode

Chord Transpose mode is very different from Chord Memory mode, so it may be helpful to
keep these concepts in mind:
• To activate Chord Transpose mode the Chord button must be enabled.
• Select the pad from step 3 above and play the middle C key on the keyboard.
The chord you recorded will play from that key with no transposition.
• Play the middle D key and the chord will be transposed upward a whole step,
etc.
• If you record a different chord on another pad, you can switch back and forth
between the chords by selecting the pads, even if you keep playing the same
key repeatedly.
For example: Record a C7 chord on pad 1 and a Cm7 chord on pad 2. To change which chord
is played by middle C, press the desired pad.

1. The previously-stored chord will be auditioned for reference
2. Play a chord on the keyboard, either all notes at once or one note at
a time
3. Release the Chord button
4. The pad will flash to indicate that the chord has been recorded
5. You can repeat steps 2-7 on any pad to store multiple chords.
