8.4 Valve Drive

8.4.1 Valve clearance – Check and adjustment
Preconditions
☑ Engine is stopped and starting disabled.
☑ Engine coolant temperature is max. 40 °C.
☑ Valves are closed.
Special tools, Material, Spare parts
Designation / Use
Feeler gauge
Angular screw driver
Torque wrench, 60–320 Nm
Socket wrench, 24 mm
Engine oil
Preparatory steps
1. Remove cylinder head cover (→ Page 193).
2. Install barring device (→ Page 173).
3. Rotate crankshaft with barring device in en-
gine direction of rotation until marking "OT"
and pointer are aligned.
