The image is compressed
vertically, but anamorphic
software will appear properly
Active Image Area
proportioned. This is best suited
for use with 16:9 DVDs and
HDTV programming.
The input signal is scaled to fit in
the center of the 16:9 screen.
4:3 is the aspect ratio used by
Active Image
computer monitors, standard
Area
television programming and
most VHS video cassettes.
The image in the Letterbox
mode is stretched vertically; the
top and bottom portions are
"blanked off." Letterbox is best
Active Image Area
suited for LaserDisc movies or
non-anamorphic DVDs.
A 4:3 image is transformed into
a 16x9 image.
The image in the Letterbox
mode is enlarged to a 16x9
image and the upper and lower
portions are compressed.
A 2.35 image is stretched
vertically in both directions to fill
a 16:9 image. Virtualwide 2.35 is
available only on VX-2i
projectors equipped with the
CineWide option (secondary
anamorphic lens).
