MAINTENANCE AND FAULT FINDING

9.1 C
LEANING
In order to ensure adequate cooling of the amplifier, it is recommended to inspect the unit
weekly to verify that the fans intake and exhaust are free of any obstruction. Also, clean the
filters every two weeks. The filters can be removed while the units are in service (power on).
Remove the snap-on covers and remove the filter pads from each cover. Rinse it with warm
water and shake off the excess water. Place the filter pads flat between a dry, absorbent cloth and
compress. The pads should be dry to touch before installing. Place back the pads and the snap-on
covers.

RECAUTIONS
9.2.1 C
ONNECTION TO
Ensure that the correct voltage 110 or 220 VAC is used for the amplifier (check the switch on the
rear panel before plugging in).
9.2.2 RF R
ADIATION
To prevent bodily harm and damage to equipment, ensure that the input and output RF ports are
ALWAYS terminated and properly fastened BEFORE connecting the rack-mount amplifiers to
the line voltage. Note that these amplifiers have sufficient gain and power to cause destructive
oscillation if the above precaution is not taken.

ERVICEABLE
The rack-mount amplifiers are serviceable at the module level only. Local service is limited to
replacement of defective modules with maintenance spares. The repairs of separate modules
must be done at the factory or at a regional repair center.

9.3.1 F
USES
There are no user serviceable fuses in the amplifier rack-mount unit. There is one fuse located in
the secondary power supply. Failure of this fuse indicates a major fault with the secondary power
supply which would then need replacement.

REAKERS
The front panel power switch also acts as the main line circuit breaker. The breaker will trip only
under a major power supply fault.
