The permissible levels of exposure are quite low compared to the power levels of the amplifiers built by Advantech (e.g. less than 10 mW versus 20 to 500 W delivered by various units). The permissible levels are currently being studied by a number of organizations. In the past the U.S.
This manual contains information that describes installation, operation, and maintenance procedures for the 125W C-Band rack-mount (indoors) Solid State Power Amplifier model ARMA-C125-CRM. Because specialized training is required for some phases of installation and operation, certain parts of this manual are directed only to trained personnel. Warnings appear at the appropriate points to caution all users of potential RF and high-voltage hazards.
ARMA-C125-CRM 3.2 S PECIFICATIONS The SSPA specified herein is capable of meeting or exceeding the performance specifications listed in the following table over frequency range, operating temperature and line voltage variation, unless otherwise specified. The SSPA will meet all RF performance specifications within thirty minutes of application of prime power.
4.1 D ESCRIPTION The ARMA-C125-CRM is a 125 Watt solid state power amplifier (SSPA). The SSPA incorporates a DC main power supply and a forced air cooling system. The SSPA features an RS-485 interface that provides full remote monitor and control of selected functions. A product outline drawing of the amplifier is shown in Figure 1 at page 11and a functional block diagram is shown in Figure 2 at page 15.

ARMA-C125-CRM 6.4 D ISCRETE NTERFACE The discrete interface provides all the necessary functions to monitor and control the amplifier. The unit provides open collectors for continuous monitoring alarms, faults, amplifier status and amplifier enable/disable switching. Figure 8 at page 30 provides the detailed circuit information required to use the above features.
ARMA-C125-CRM 7. CONFIGURATION AND SET-UP 7.1 S OFTWARE ONFIGURATION The program ADV.EXE is located on the diskette delivered with this amplifier. To use the software, first copy ADV.EXE to your hard disk. 1. To execute the program, at the DOS prompt type ADV.
ARMA-C125-CRM 7.3 S TART 1. Switch the power on (Front Panel). The POWER ON LED (green) will light and a message will appear on the front panel display indicating that the unit is performing self-diagnostics. If everything is OK, a second message will appear identifying the model number of the unit.
ARMA-C125-CRM 1. From the main menu, press either [é é ] or [ê ê ] successively to select the following display: STATUS: ____ <ENTER> FOR LOCAL CTL STATUS: ____ <ENTER> TO GO REMOTE 2. Press [Enter] to switch between the two modes. When switching to LOCAL control, the unit will wait 30 seconds before yielding local access.
