22.7. Agent Security
The Agent Security command allows you to configure the read, write, and trap
community strings used by the SNMP agents. The community strings (i.e.
passwords) allows WipManage (or a third-party management station) to access and
manage the BSDU.
In addition to defining community string passwords, this command also allows you
to increase SNMP security by allowing only management stations listed in the
Mangers table (see Section 22.2, "Managers Table") to manage the BSDU.
The trap community string is the community to which the BSDU-generated trap
belongs (i.e. all BSDU-generated traps of this community will be received by the
management station). Trap community is relevant for third-party SNMP external
management stations such as HP OpenView. If WipManage is defined as a
management station for the device, WipManage receives all community traps.
The path for this command is as follows:
